Sovereignty

All through my Facebook newsfeed, I see people posting reminders that regardless of who wins the Presidential election, God still sits on the throne. Such posts are focusing on the Sovereignty of God, and I am immensely grateful for God’s sovereignty.

‘know therefore today, and lay it to your heart, that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. ‘ Deuteronomy 4:39

‘Thus says the Lord , the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god. Who is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and set it before me, since I appointed an ancient people. Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen. Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? And you are my witnesses! Is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any.” ‘ Isaiah 44:6-8

To say that God is Sovereign is to say that He is over everything – He is supreme. Chip Ingram says it this way: “If someone is sovereign, he’s the boss. He calls the shots and has the authority. What he says goes. He’s “the king.” God claims to be the King, not just of this planet, but of the entire universe. He is outside of time. He is infinite. He had no beginning, he has no end. He is the ruler of everything.” (The Real God).

I am greatly comforted by God’s Sovereignty. No matter what I face, nothing is outside of the authority and control of God. I am thankful that He is over all things, forever.
